Angry Salesman
Received a call about setting an appointment for someone to come in to talk to us about their product. We said we weren't interested but they sent someone anyways.
When salesman came in we told him we weren't interested and he proceeded to yell at us, tell us our business is failing, which it is not. So that was weird.
After a few minutes of a verbal attack he finally left. Bizarre sales technique.
Preferred solution: We would like them to stop harassing us.

Dishonest and rude
Someone from SMS-NA came to my company at 8a and said he had an appointment with our president. The staff called the president and found out there was no appointment; the guy had called the day before asking if he could "drop off a business card" and asked when we open. The president said he had told him he could drop off a card, and someone is here at 8a.
The staff told the SMS-NA employee he would have to call for an appointment. Later I got a call from SMS-NA and put them through to the president's voicemail. Later I got another call claiming to be from the office of an SMS-NA employee as if they are important and their time is too valuable to call themselves. I put that call into the voicemail, too.
That evening the president gave the business card to me and asked me to let them know he is not interested. The business card indicates the SMS-NA employee is "Dennis J. Pluth, Senior Area Manager".
Again today I got another call from SMS-NA and I explained that the president of my company is not interested. He responded "How do you know, I have not told you anything". I said, are you with SMS-NA? "Yes." I have your business card here that the president gave me and asked me to let you know he is not interested. He then hung up on me before I could ask to be put on the "do not call list", but since I have their phone number I called and explained the rude behavior and asked to be put on the "do not call list". I also let them know that being so dishonest at the start does not make their company look good.
- Hung up on me when i said not interested
- Pretended to call on behalf of important colleague
- Pretended to call on behalf of important and busy colleague
Not to be contacted ever again and for the company to become legitimate or end.
Very rude, pushy and disrespectful
These guys call repeatedly even after we have stated numerous times that we're not interested in their services. Today's scam was a sales rep calling and claiming to have an appointment with our president, airplane tickets booked and to have a "signed contract".
When we questioned this, the sales rep got belligerent and we ended up having to hang up on him.
Enough!
We shouldn't have to call someone else to get these guys to stop calling- I think we have made that pretty clear to them. I fail to see what good it will do to contact someone else.
Stop calling us.
Very pushy and rude
A gentleman Todd Young walks into my business in Spring Lake, MI claiming to have an appointment. Goes into a sales pitch and want me to sign for a "no obligation" service.
After reading the fine print this "no obligation" service would have cost my company $1300.00 and even more if I actually let them "work" on making my business more profitable for me. I searched the company SMS-NA and his name and was not surprised to find reviews exactly like the one I'm describing.
I am glad I read the fine print and even more glad I didn't sign anything with this guy.
Never have this guy call me again

Verified Reviewer | Tulsa, OklahomaConstant, Annoying Sales Calls
I don't even know what this company is selling but they call our business constantly. They ask for various executives by first name and are very evasive when a receptionist attempts to find out the name of the caller and the reason for the call.
They will also act like they have made prior contact or are friends and ask for the executives' cell phone numbers.
Thankfully our receptionist are smart enough to realize these are sales calls, but they call several times a week. The annoyance and deception are enough to prevent us from ever hiring them to perform B2B marketing for us.

Verified Reviewer | Los Angeles, CaliforniaRUDE NASTY AGENTS CALLING ALL THE TIME
I took another call from an agent from SMS to ask them to please stop calling my business. In their typical fashion, their agent got arrogant, talked over me and had to hang up on them just like before because they will not take no for an answer.
They treat me like I cannot run our business without them and will not tell me the nature of their business. Their opening line to our receptionist is that they are calling to confirm their appointment with me. My girls fall for it and I get on the phone to tell them not to call me again. Never works and I am really sick and tired of it!
It's a shame. They may provide a nice service but I would never give them the time of day to learn about it!
VULGAR REP
I too was contacted by SMS Corporation by someone identifyiny himself as Eric Taylor. His telephone number is 305 744 ****.
Eric started with a barrage of questions about my company. He said he had been referred to my company. After I asnswered the first few I asked him about his company and what he wanted. He became very agitated and started swearing at me.
I inturn gave him a few choice words and hung up. These guys have been calling me for months and I have had enough. I reported them to the FCC.
I then call Randy at the office number provided in another complaint and sked to be removed from their call list. He said he would do it immediately and thanked be for telling him about Eric.
Time will tell if the calls stop.
SMS Company lies to get information about your company
This company has called two days in a row, digging for information. They stated they were interested in getting a quote when they called yesterday.
I suspected it was a scammer from the multiple voices in the background and didn't put the call through. Glad I didn't - when I asked if I could get a number and have their call returned, "John" told me he was not in the office and calling from his cell phone, so he would have to call back himself. Hmmm.
This morning "Leslie" called about a "business matter" (different approach), and I wouldn't put the call through. They are scammers and they need better script material!!

Verified ReviewerProvided valuable information and results
I started working with this company after I received a call from someone on their sales team. I usually do not follow up on sales calls but I am glad I listened to their pitch.
We have been talking back and forth since then. They have been competent and professional in all our dealings and I have been impressed with them so far.

Verified ReviewerSMS consulting review
We had SMS in our office for a few weeks at the end of last year and I have nothing but positive things to say about the experience. At first we just signed up for a free analysis but after their presentation we decided to hire them on for some consulting services and for help implementing some of the bullet points from their analysis.
We agreed on a specific scope of items that would be completed so we could keep costs under control. They were able to complete almost 90% of what we had agreed upon and what was left was minimal.
We decided to end the engagement after hitting our estimated hours to keep our costs in check. I still feel like they did a killer job and would have no problems inviting them back in the future.

Verified ReviewerI would like to express my satisfaction with the work we had performed by SMS
I would like to express my satisfaction with the work we had performed by SMS during the last couple of months. The gentleman they sent over was diligent, effective and a pleasure to work with.
I feel like SMS supported me throughout the process helping me get additional loans and advice. Early in the process they also provided good insights and recommendations. My team learned as well, and they enjoyed working with SMS.
We have reduced costs in several areas, with more to be saved. I hope to have them return over the summer to complete the work on leasing and long term strategy that we were unable to complete at this time.
Pushy, Pushy, PUSHY!
Baffoon calls me on a local area code number. Tells me he was referred to me for their services.
I asked him who referred him to me. He couldn't come up with an answer. He starts into his pitch. I usually have a spoiler for everything anyone is trying to sell me...
"Oh, we just bought that. You should have called last week." "Our benefits are all handled through our employees union." "All of our IT decisions are handled by our parent company in Belgium. Sure, you can call them. Do you speak Flemish or Dutch?" But this knuckle dragger just kept coming.
Finally, I bludgeoned him with, "Seriously, dude, I'm not interested. He insisted his colleague would be "in the neighborhood" and "just drop off a business card" on Thursday. She showed up on Tuesday. I wasn't in the office.
My staff called me. She insisted on an appointment on Thursday. My staff checked my public calendar and saw an opening that didn't really exist. I was out again.
She showed up and my staff was in a meeting. One person gave her a tour of the plant. They burned an hour of her time. I understand she was pretty and the guys in the shop enjoyed her tour.
Haven't heard from either one of them again. The best way to get rid of salespeople and common grifters is to burn their time without using any of your own.
User's recommendation: Hang up on them. If they call back, become abusive.
Unbelievably pushy
Guy said he was 'passing thru' and wanted to meet about business analysis. He entered my office in an ill-fitting suit and proceeded to try to sell me a contract, would not take no for an answer, extremely rude and obnoxious..
I stated I wasn't interested, and he said he needed to make a phone call which he did, and it was his supervisor wanting to talk to me! I took the call and he started in on a complete rant on why I was refusing their services. I hung up on him and told the salesman to leave immediately.
He stood there looking at me and I then pointed to the door and said "I am watching you walk out the door" to which he picked up his little briefcase and left. I do not tolerate cold calls and I should not have taken this one...

On 06/03/2023, David Pritt, showed up at my office claiming to have an appointment with my boss (he didn't). He said he works for Sms-Na, and explained how they provide business analysis to small companies.
He was here for several hours and was persistent about scheduling a $1300 2-day consultation for 06/05/2023. I eventually agreed, but felt uneasy about it all weekend.
When I went home, I did some research on the company, and they had TONS of negative reviews, so I decided to cancel. The cell number I was given wasn't accepting calls. I looked up the website and called the main line, it just rang and rang, no answering service or machine.
I tried to find an email for anyone at SMS-NA, but there was nothing available.
On 06/05/2023, the analyst, Clyde Swalwell, showed up at 6:45 am and my boss explained that we wanted to cancel. Clyde refused to leave. For 30 minutes, my boss had to repeatedly ask and then demand him to leave the premises.
Clyde then began saying we had a s**tty business, and questioned why he would let a female (me) make his business decisions. It got to the point that my boss got up to physically remove Clyde from the office, and only then did Clyde start to head for the exit.
Unfortunately he didn't leave, and continued to make disparaging comments about me (Ive never met him), my boss and our company.
Finally, my boss threatened to contact the police and Clyde finally left.
He did tell my boss that he was going to wait for me to come in and have some words with me. We have this exchange on video and are more than happy to share it if needed.

Really helped us
We were having some issues with our QB point of sale system not properly connecting to our bookkeepers QB installation. This was driving us nuts and really causing issues with our reporting and general accounting.
We had used SMS in the past for some consulting and succession planning, so we ended up having them come back in and fix these issues.
They were able to diagnose and figure out the issue in just a few hours. Thanks again!
By the end of our engagement I was more confident than when we first started
I and my husbands experience was overall a positive one. SMS sent two different analysts over the course of our engagement.
We never got a reason why we had a switch halfway through but the person they sent as a replacement was more than capable enough to get us to the finish line. Only time will tell how much of an effect the recommended changes will make, but I am optimistic.

Hey everyone in Canada, we have the same problem here with these leeches. I had someone call last week from ABS wanting to set up a meeting, what made me suspicious is that after I agreed to it the guy suddenly said his company was SMS.
I already got conned by another one of these "consulting" firms, Lake Hart Associates. Be very aware of these guys as well, exactly the same scam! Let me tell you my experience with Lake Hart- same pitch, they will come in and do a business analysis for you, it will cost you just under a 1000 dollars and you only have to pay if you like their work. I did end up paying as I found their analysis somewhat useful.
After the guy finished that analysis, thats where the real pitch comes in. They will help you with growing your business by finding "efficiencies" in your business and also getting you leads on new potential customers. And for this you will "only" have to pay $15,000 per week!!!!! I wont get into further details on this, lets just say that the whole thing is a complete scam.
Useless information for a price that is close to mafia extortion money! SMS, ABS or whatever these *** call themselves operate under the same principle.
They sent a guy out to see me today and I told him to leave, and yes they are disorganized because they couldnt even get this so called agreement faxed over last week for me to look over and sign. What a joke lol
